The Person Behind This Small Business

"Small businesses provide the feeling that a real person is behind it all, someone who cares more about giving us a quality product or service, over just taking our hard-earned dollars."  Annia Bukhman

I'm asked by strangers who is Pat? There really is a person (me) behind Pat's Granola. Sometimes folks seem genuinely surprised. Why would a business be named eponymously, after all?

Heres answers to some FAQs about Pat:

How’d you come up with the name of your business?

I initially didn’t want to call the business Pat’s Granola. Thought long and hard about coming up with something clever or catchy. Vetted hundreds of names and ultimately decided that my granola should be named after me. The more I worked at finding the “right” name, the more Pat’s Granola felt right.

You’re not from the Midwest, are you? You've got a funny accent.

I was born and raised in New York.  And yes, my “accent” as it’s been referred to “sounds like you’re from New York.”

How do you like Cleveland? After all, its not New York.

Other than college, I’ve not lived outside of New York. The prospect of moving to a new city intrigued and scared me. However, once a decision was made, I leaned right in and haven’t looked back. I’ve traveled to many places in Ohio and am open to exploring enjoying the contrast of life in the city as well as small towns and villages. I’ve managed to strike up conversations with some unlikely people and learn so much about other human beings. I bloom where planted.

Was it hard to start a business, at your age?
